Dear Family,
We have had the most wonderful Sunday.  Went to a sacrament meeting with all of the elders and sisters who are leaving for Mongolia.  We then went and watched TheSpoken Word and went straight into RS.  We opened with a new version of The Sisters of Zion.  It is a version for missionaries and beautiful.  My kids know I always cry when I hear that song with the Army of Helaman.  We had a surprised guest speaker, Sheri Dew.  She spoke about the Priesthood and Women, not ordained women.  Her explanation and talk was beyond wonderful, spiritual, uplifting etc.  Every devotional, lesson, talk given here has strengthened our testimonies, and filled us with the spirit.  We have 3 more hours this evening, two devotionals, and a special video with Elder Bednar that is only shown in the MTC.  We are so excited and hopefully will get to sing Called to Serve again.  RS had hundreds of women andtonite there will be thousands.  Can’t wait.  Just walking the halls and saying hi or hello to so many SMILING faces just lifts our spirits higher. We start our mission office classes tomorrow, including EXCEL and MIOS? Some special new program just for office help.  We will be learning to do referrerals, transfers, whiny missionaries, and then leave here on Thursday afternoon and take off at 6:30 pm.  We are sitting in a church building next to the MTC because we were the only ones that couldn’t connect over there.  Thank goodness we have full access to this building.  This is where the classes for seniors are taught. We pray for all of you each night and hope you do the same for us.  We know the value of prayer. And by the way, we put all your names down when they asked for referrals for senior missionaries, don’t worry kids we didn’t refer you.
We love you,
Sister Higginson and Sister Cox

"We are ready to go"

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Well, we just got back from our first devotional.  The program started with "Called to Serve." Here I was in a sea of several thousand missionaries sing one of my favorite hymns.  And to think I was one of those missionaries, representing the Lord as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints.  I just cried.  Adrienne and I are so happy. The senior missionaries are great and we all have formed a bond already.  We have and 8 am class together for an hour and then divide into districts for classes from 9-11:30 and then lunch.  More classes at 1:30 to 4:30.  Those classes are taught by darling returned missionaries.  We are studying preach my gospel.  Tony a full hour class today on INVITE.  Jacob, morning classes on BRT building relationships of TRUST.  You both were right on.  Tomorrow we have to each play missionary for 45 minutes to an investigator.  Scared to death.  We practiced all morning and afternoon to be prepared.  It will be a great experience but I sure don't feel very comfortable.  We are both so happy, everything is positive, and even the young ones always speak to us.  We met the MTC presidency and now everyone calls us the Sister Sisters.  They think we are the luckiest people to be able to serve together and be able to go to Melbourne, Australia.  We are studying together and learning lots.  We are walking at 6 every morning or night because there is lots of sitting. They stress exercise exercise exercise.

I can't tell you how often Adrienne and I look at each other and say, "I can't believe we are really here and are MISSIONARIES.

Love to you all,
Mother, Grandma, Dee Dee

Entering the Missionary Training Center on July 21, 2014.
The MTC is so hard (little did we know we would see them a few more times over the next 10 days)
I will admit their were a couple ugly cries that came from me.
